Ilisa Halpern Paul Discusses Short-Term Hospital Stays in Modern Healthcare

November 26, 2014
Ilisa Halpern Paul, President of the District Policy Group, was quoted in an article published last Tuesday in Modern Healthcare on House Republicans’ effort to adjust the way Medicare pays hospitals for short-term stays. The article, “House GOP Seeks Overhaul of Short-Stay Hospital Payments; ‘Two-Midnight Rule’ Targeted,” specifically discusses a proposal being circulated by the House Ways and Means Committee. While the timing of the document’s release falls squarely in the middle of a lame-duck session, Ilisa sees it as a sign that the Committee plans to “take the reins in an effort to unscramble this very messy egg.” “The issues that are in it are obviously very complex,” Ilisa said of the draft legislation. “It's clear that a lot of thought and work went into the construction of the bill.”
