Legislative Advocacy and Lobbying

The District Policy Group® offers each client a customized team of professionals, handpicked based on their respective experience, specific issue knowledge, relationships, and fit with the client. Members of the District Policy Group serve as an extension of our clients’ “bench,” providing boots-on-the-ground direct lobbying and representation to help raise profiles, elevate issues on the national agenda, secure introduction of legislation or cosponsors for legislation, advance policy proposals within congress at the agency level, and ensure representation at key meetings and events.

We work closely with our clients to help build and strengthen their relationships with Members of Congress and their staffs, and key staffers on congressional committees, with the goal of identifying and cultivating supporters and champions for client priorities. We coordinate federal agency efforts with congressional outreach to ensure that the legislative branch is aware and supportive of client initiatives involving the executive branch.

Our legislative lobbying and advocacy services include:

  • Congressional outreach and relationship-building
  • Legislative monitoring, tracking and analysis, including identification of threats and opportunities and creation and implementation of response plans
  • Legislative language drafting and other policy development
  • Development of advocacy materials, such as fact sheets, policy briefs, talking points, congressional testimony, and action alerts
  • Hill Days — in-person and virtual — including scheduling, materials, training and other support
  • Advocacy training and education
  • Strategic planning for advocacy initiatives, including conducting an assessment or other evaluation of current efforts and setting a course for the future

Powerful Virtual Presence in Unique Times

The unique circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic should not stop organizations, companies, and advocates from engaging their Members of Congress and having their voices heard on their policy priorities. The District Policy Group can work with you to coordinate a virtual lobby day or arrange targeted meetings to enable you to connect with elected officials and staff for remote meetings, either by tele- or video-conference, depending on the congressional office. In addition, we can design a strategy and develop messaging for engaging with Members of Congress via email, Twitter or Facebook or member tele-town hall meetings, which provide additional opportunities to be heard and have your message resonate.
