Sarah Mills has extensive experience in policy consulting, government relations, and advocacy. Having provided strategic counsel to officials at both the federal and state levels of government and to health care industry investors, she is adept at creating, evaluating, and employing effective strategies to advance clients’ interests both on and off the Hill. Sarah has worked closely throughout her career with congressional offices, regulatory agencies, states, stakeholders, private industry and media. She has a keen understanding of the macro policy environment and is particularly skilled at leading client engagement and advocacy efforts across a broad range of settings - offering clients a multi-front approach to achieving their policy goals.

Before joining the District Policy Group, Sarah was an analyst at Potomac Research Group, where she advised institutional investors and private equity firms on federal legislative and regulatory policies affecting the health care sector. She has also served as the Director of Federal Affairs and State Policy Advisor to Governor Phil Bryant of Mississippi, a Legislative Aide for the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary under the leadership of Ranking Members Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Jeff Sessions (R-AL), and Arlen Specter (R-PA), and a consultant on grassroots organization for health and wellness initiatives.

Sarah received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Policy from Southern Methodist University. Originally from Texas and formerly trained as a classical singer, she first attended SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts. Possessing an underlying interest in public policy, she volunteered for federal political campaigns and took elective courses in political science and bioethics, which led her to pursue a career in politics and health policy. She lives with her husband in Washington, D.C.
